The CHAT Alumni Association Mission

The CHAT Alumni Association has the following aims and objectives:

  • To maintain close ties within the alumni and between the alumni and the school.
  • To provide valued services and programs to our alumni.
  • To support the mission and goals of CHAT.
  • To support the continued development of CHAT and its participation in Jewish life and values throughout the Jewish Community.

The Community Hebrew Academy of Toronto (CHAT) was founded in 1960 by a group of concerned community leaders who believed there was a genuine need for a Jewish high school in the Greater Toronto area. Today CHAT is the educational backbone of Toronto’s Jewish Community and is recognized as one of North America’s leading Jewish schools and one of Toronto’s foremost independent high schools. CHAT symbolizes excellence in both general and Judaic studies.

Since its opening, more than 3,200 alumni have graduated from CHAT. These alumni have gone on to assume leadership roles in their communities around the world, and have established careers in a wide spectrum of professions and businesses. CHAT graduates have gone on to attend some of the finest universities throughout the world, and can be found today in the highest echelons of academia, community and social services, education, medicine, law, business and the arts.
